Eclectic Farmhouse Master Bathroom Inspiration and Mood Board
The most important part of home renovation is having a vision; to see beyond what is in front of you and to be able to see what it has the potential to become. When we began the master bathroom remodel, I started with a blank slate. I had four walls and a dream of what I wanted our new master bathroom to look and feel like.
I envisioned rustic but fresh. White. Clean. Simple. Modern but Classic…
And found several pictures that brought all of those elements and ideas together, such as…
#1. This eclectic farmhouse bathroom from Alan Mascord Design Associates.
#2. I’d love a shower with a glass enclosure to open up the sight lines like this bathroom from Fixer Upper.
#3. This bathroom from Jonathon Raith Inc. sold me on having a vanity with a mix of open and closed storage and white shiplap walls to keep it light and bright.
#4. But I’m also open to painting the shiplap a light gray. This gorgeous bathroom stopped me in my tracks!
#5. I’ll be on the lookout for unpredictable lighting like these lanterns in this bathroom from Structures Building Co. I also like the idea of painting the vanity an unexpected color, like this olive green.
#5. There’s something very calming about this bathroom’s combination of black, white and wood.
When I said I’m starting from a blank slate, this is what I meant.
You can read more about how we’re taking a bedroom beside the master and changing it into a master bathroom, walk-in closet, and half bath in this post. The floor plan below gives you and idea of how the room will be laid out with the shower on the left and an L-shaped pony wall that hides the toilet. The vanity will be the first thing you see when you walk in and it’ll be the star of the show.
So, let me show you in this mood board how I plan to make this room amazing.

We’ll use white subway tile with charcoal grout in the shower and add the black and white tile as an accent in a cubby. On the floor, we’ll use the 12″ x 24″ charcoal porcelain tiles. We’re able to keep our original hardwood floors, so that’ll save us money.
I’ll use similar wall sconces, but find some that have the same look for less. We will make the mirrors, the ceiling light, and vanity ourselves. Make sure you follow along for those tutorials.
But before we get to the fun & creative part, we’ve got tons of (not so glamorous but oh-so-necessary) work to do.
So, let this project begin!

Thank you, Carla! I made the mood board with Picmonkey. I started off with white shiplap as my background and used the layering tool to add my other pictures. I edited the pictures using ClippingMagic.com so it takes out the white background.
