Seasonal Simplicity Spring Home Tour

|

Hello, friends! I hope you’re having a great Tuesday. Today is the second day of the Seasonal Simplicity Spring Home Tours hosted by April from House of Hoff and Krista from The Happy Housie. I’m so excited that I get to team up with such a talented group of bloggers for my first spring home tour!

When the tour ends on Friday, there will be a total of 25 beautiful homes decorated for spring with tons of ideas on how to add seasonal touches to your home without feeling like you have to go overboard.

Seasonal Simplicity Home Tour

If you’re coming over from The House of Wood…welcome! Isn’t Jen’s home beautiful?

I have to admit…my favorite season is spring. How appropriate is it that the first seasonal tour of our new/old house is for the spring season? And even more appropriate is the theme of the tour…Seasonal Simplicity. I’m all about keeping things simple. My goal for decorating my home for spring was to use things that I already have instead of buying anything at the store other than some plants that I’ll transfer to the garden.

So let’s get started on the porch!

Having a colorful, flower-filled porch to come home to makes me smile as soon as I pull in the driveway.

For the first time ever, I have a covered front porch so I couldn’t wait to gather some furniture and decorative items from the inside of the house to the outside. All of the furniture pieces were either free or thrift store finds so I gave them a couple coats exterior paint to pull the mismatched pieces together. The sign was a DIY project.

I pulled my blue mason jar collection together and added some candles.

My husband, Jason, picked up this vintage toolbox from the Habitat for Humanity Restore because it came with tools but I quickly stole it from the garage because of the beautiful teal color.

I plopped some perennials into these DIY aged terracotta pots. Once it gets warmer, I’ll transfer the perennials to the flower beds.

The metal chairs were a thrift store find for $40 for the pair. They were royal blue so I gave them a couple coats oil rubbed bronze spray paint. The white table was rescued from the roadside. All that was salvageable was the pedestal base so we took it and added a new table top then painted it white.

Nothing says spring like tulips. I love being able to decorate with flowers all year long so I bought these faux real touch tulips on Amazon for less than $5. Shipping took a few weeks, but it was totally worth it.

We are in the process of remodeling our 100-year-old bungalow. With all the dust from remodeling, I decided to keep seasonal decorating the inside of our home to a minimum this year.

Jason made it fit the space and I painted it. My favorite part of the table is X detail on the sides made from lath strips from our house.

Jason was given one of the first Shopsmith lathes ever made that was produced in the early 1950’s. These lovely candlesticks were the first project he made with it. Seasonal Simplicity Spring Tour- handmade candle sticks

And now let’s move on to the master bedroom.

We’re in the process of turning an adjacent spare bedroom into a master bathroom, walk-in closet, and half-bathroom. The master bathroom will be the first room to be completed and I can’t wait to show you guys how it turns out. And I’ll be revealing the rest of the master bedroom in just few weeks.
For this vignette, I pulled together pieces that have similar colors. There’s something about the combination of green and white that feels very fresh and appropriately “springy” to me. Green is also Pantone’s color of the year so I wanted to find a way to incorporate into our home.

I bought the metal caddy on Decor Steals. It’s such a gorgeous shade of green.

My oldest son’s bedroom makeover was the first completed room I posted about for our new house and it’s the last room of the tour. He’s at college right now but he’ll totally get what this quote on the letter board says when he comes home. He’s not a fan of winter, either. 😉

I'm sorry for the things I said when it was winter. Rustic industrial office decorated for spring.

The built-in bed made from stock kitchen cabinets makes this room feel so cozy. The planks that cover the popcorn ceilings give this room a little extra farmhouse charm.

Well, that concludes our spring home tour today, folks!
