DIY Pantry Cabinets: One Room Challenge Week 3
It’s hard to believe we only have a little over 2 weeks till the One Room Challenge is complete!
Last week, we had a little set back due to not having enough tile to install the black and white hexagon floor, but luckily the extra tile we needed came in on time. We finished it up over the weekend and I have to say, I’m in love!
Also over the weekend, Jason built half of the pantry cabinets. I’ve spent the past few days getting them primed and painted. To remind you where we started, this is the before photo looking into the doorway.
This is the new supply cabinet that will be getting doors, hopefully sometime this next week.
I wanted to add a little pop of color to this otherwise neutral space, and I couldn’t be happier with Sherwin Williams Refuge as the perfect compliment to all the black and white that will be in our new panty!
In our original plans, we were going to do a faux soapstone countertop, but we’ve decided to go with concrete instead. In the long run, it will be more durable and tie in better for what we have planned for the kitchen.
The countertop will have to go in before the last set of open pantry shelves can be installed.
The other change we’re making is having just one steel and glass shelving unit instead of two. We’ll place it in front of the window. I have plans for an herb garden and with all the light that comes through the window, the plants might just have a chance with my semi-black thumb.
We still have a lot to do, but I feel like we’ve made so much progress!
TO-DO LIST & DESIGN PLANS FOR THE WALK-IN PANTRY RENOVATION:

Those tiles are gorgeous! I wish we had a space for a pantry cabinet, that’s definitely on my bucket list when we build a new house in the future.
Thank you so much! I think it was worth the extra work. My husband may disagree 🙂
How deep are your lower cabinets?
Hi! The lower cabinets are 17″ deep including the overlay doors. The shelves inside are 16-1/2″ deep and the countertops are 18″.
I love the blue you chose for the cabinet
That pantry color is a gorgeous pop of color against that penny tile. Can’t wait to see it all come together. 🙂
