Master Bathroom Paint Colors, Budget + Source List

| | | | | |
The main goal of this blog is to inspire others to make their home simply beautiful on a budget.

Not everyone can afford the average cost of remodeling a bathroom. Considering we were starting off with a room that had no plumbing, ours would’ve been at least $12,000 in our area if we hadn’t done all the work ourselves. We were able to add value to our home without having to use credit cards and ended up spending less than half of what it would have cost if we hired the work out to a contractor. It took making wise choices with materials and not going overboard with the plumbing fixtures.

My husband’s job is to use his prior expertise in construction to make sure the work is done correctly and to code.

My job is to do the research and shop around to get the best deal so I can get the designer look for less and share it with you.

Kinda like that friend that you love to go shopping with because she knows how to find all those great deals.

Friends that know how to shop and keep secrets…now, those are the kind of friends you need to keep.

We love the farmhouse style for our home’s interior, but we also wanted to add timeless touches and classic elements when designing our master bathroom. Above all, we needed a functional space without having to blow the budget.

Our goals for the remodeling the en suite bathroom were the following:

  • Make the space timeless and fitting with our hundred-year-old home
  • Find affordable fixtures that look high end
  • and DIY as much as possible

Our choices may not be for everybody but they can be a guide for when you’re planning on doing your own bathroom makeover.

So with all that being said, I’m sharing the budget breakdown and all the sources of our master bathroom.

We started from scratch since we turned guest bedroom next to the master bedroom into a combination of en suite bathroom, walk-in closet, and half bath. As you can see, we have many more makeovers to share with you in the future!

  3. hello, this bathroom piece is fabulous and inspiring -thanks for so much detail! we are renovating the tiniest bathroom in a tiny season beach cottage. i would like to install a shower similar to yours shown here, however in my search there is a dramatic range of prices. the cheap ones (like the one you include a link to on eBay) concern me- that they come with installation problems. did you have any issues installing yours? was is compliant with US plumbing codes or fittings? thank you! Lisa

    1. Thank you so much for visiting our blog and I’m glad you like the details we put into our master bathroom. I asked my husband about the shower since he did the installation. First of all, he said it didn’t come with instructions. The other thing he wanted to mention is you have to really pay attention to the finish wall depth with this particular model. Other than that, the fittings are compliant with US plumbing fittings. For our area, there are no particular codes that deal with the type of faucets we can use, but we followed code as far as installation. Now, would I purchase this model again? I’d pay more for a shower faucet that has a thermostatic valve. This one does not. And If I was hiring out the work for installation, I would’ve have bought something that was easier to install. We took our chances with this particular model, but luckily it’s worked well with no issues so far. Have fun renovating your beach cottage bathroom!
