A Simple Christmas Vignette

DIY Artwork + Signs + Mirrors· DIY Projects· DIY Vintage Signs· Inspiration· Seasonal Decorating Ideas

As I am sitting here writing this, it is 72 degrees outside and I’m not complaining at all. This girl is enjoying it while it lasts. It’s at least beginning to feel a little like Christmas in my living room.

Since our TV is above our mantle, I put together a vignette on our empire chest that sits by our front door. You may remember my fall vignette in the same spot. Since we have rambunctious little boys in the home, I displayed the hand blown glass ornaments that my parents made for me in the tray pictured above. {Here is the link to their Facebook page in case you’re ever in the Myrtle Beach, SC area.} The glass ornaments may actually make it to the tree next year.

The hobnail candle holders are from Marshall’s. I found the card holder (actually a photo display) at Tuesday Morning several years back. A thrift store cake pan sits on top of a candle holder (also thrifted) and holds ornaments. Hanging on the wall, I have the ceiling tile that I had shown you in my faux verdigris paint tutorial. I gave it a coat of white paint and distressed it to let the verdigris color show through.

I found the letters at Hobby Lobby for 50% off. They are hot glued to the galvanized french flower buckets. If you have followed the blog for a while, you may have noticed I have a love for galvanized metal…just a little. The smell from the rosemary clippings makes up for the fact that our Christmas tree is not real.

Until we start getting Christmas cards, I have filled the card display with a sweet collection of vintage Santa postcards that I downloaded from Graphics Fairy.

I couldn’t help but make another vintage-esque sign. I used the same technique as the last one I made. This sign is actually made from our old brass kick plate that I took off our front door. The holes where the screws used to be make the perfect place to hang the sign with upholstery tacks.

Click here for the tutorial on the painted pine cone garland. It took some trial and error to get it right, so I’ll share with you how I finally got it just the way I wanted it. But first, I’ll be showing you our front porch decorated for the seasons.

As of now…that’s a wrap.

The success of this business vednture hinges upon your ability to find a supplier who can provide clothes of good quality at the lowest possible price.
Whether it be calming, exciting, vintage, or modern, it should
give the room a certain auira that iss consistent with what the designer initially intended.
This article will provide the small online retailer on how to have this big too in their
arsnal and benefit immensely from it.

With the information overload, anyone can find decent legal jobvs online.
When you have a business to run, you cannot afford to spend a large percentage of your time
looking forr suppliers. So, you will need to know how to tell the difference betwween thesae two.

I am in love with your vignette. Seriously in love. We have a TV above our mantle, too, but we do have an entryway table I wanted to decorate this year. Alas, I only got a few things up on it. But next year I’m really planning on decking that baby out. And those Santa postcards I think are my favorite touch.

Hey Jen! I just saw your Christmas home tour and I am awestruck! I thought it was beautiful before but even more so with all your wonderful ideas. Our rosemary started out as a tree from the grocery store and now it is so tall, it comes up to my shoulders (not that I’m tall or anything). It must love the weather here! Glad you like the new blog!

I love your mantel! And, I want to go to your parents shop, even though it may be the week after Christmas, to get a pumpkin and ornaments, if any are left. I love the Graphics Fairy Santa’s. I may need to ‘copy’ that idea! ;o) The pinecone garland is cute, too, but I don’t think I’d have the patience!
