DIY Dollar Tree Faux Succulent Candle Centerpiece

Simple + Cheap DIY Project: Dollar Tree Succulent Candle Centerpiece

| | | | |

Some of my favorite DIY projects have been the ones I almost didn’t blog about because they seem so easy. Today’s project is a prime example. In this post, I’ll show you how I used Dollar Tree succulents to make a super easy candle centerpiece that took less than 10 minutes to put together.

Like most people, I gravitate to the outdoors when the weather starts getting warmer. In last month’s spring home tour post, you got a sneak peek of our covered front porch. Since I’ve been in the process of getting it decorated for the warmer months, I wanted to add some greenery and an inexpensive candle centerpiece for the table on our porch.

Last year, I missed out on the faux succulents that Dollar Tree sold in the store so I went online and found out they sell faux succulents by the case before they hit the stores! If they’re sold out at Dollar General’s website, you can also find a case of 20 faux succulents on Amazon.com.

I ordered a case of 24 succulents for $24.00 knowing I had some ideas for the rest of the box and had it shipped it to the nearest store for free. Faux succulents bought by the case at Dollar Tree. This blog post has the link to order them.

I already had the aged terracotta pots from my spring vignette post from a few years back. The rest of the supplies were purchased from The Dollar Tree such as the pebbles and candle. A terracotta pot similar to the smaller one is sold at the Dollar Tree also. Not shown is the potting soil that was already in my larger pot.

Putting it all together is a cinch. Fill your larger terracotta pot with potting soil (or sand) and insert the smaller pot in the center. Then, cover the soil with a thin layer of river pebbles.

Remove the succulents from their plastic pots and insert them around the pot. I used eleven succulent plants.

Add your candle to the center and you’ve got yourself instant ambiance for a summer’s night on the porch. These centerpieces would also be gorgeous for a garden wedding!

For this girl with the black thumb, I’m super happy with this easy and inexpensive succulent centerpiece that I don’t have to worry about keeping alive. I can’t wait to show you what else I’ll be making with the rest of the succulents!
