so he likes familiarity and routine. I think that separating these two would just throw him for a loop.
I made their initials above their beds with fabric, a letter from the craft store, Luan board, 1×1′s, and, you guessed it, Mod Podge.
I debated for months on what I needed to put on the large wall above Mason’s bed. I finally found this large laminated map. It adds just enough color and it gave me a direction to go for the rest of the room. You know I’ve been a little map crazy these days. The blue trays are painted with Krylon’s Peekaboo Blue.
The large globe was purchased from Vintage Rhino on Etsy.
They are offering my readers 15% off their purchase! Just go to http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheVintageRhino and give them the coupon code ‘SIMPLICITY’ when you checkout.
The tutorial for the polka dot galvanized pail that you see on the bookcase is here.

| Remodelaholic Kids Rooms |

Your boys bedroom is great looking. I love that it will take the kids from elementary school to teenager very easily. Love the locker and the chalkboard wall.
Thanks, Gretchen! I had fun decorating it. I tried to convince Taylor to let me do the chalkboard wall when this was his room 6 years ago and he wouldn’t let me. Boys! I didn’t ask the younger ones before I did it, but they use it all the time. I forgot to mention that I ended up buying some dustless chalk. I’ll have to add the link later. It helps.
This looks amzaing! I Loooooooooove what you did with the ikea piece!!! cant wait for the tut!
So glad you like it! It was a spur of the moment thing late week. I’m glad I took pictures of the process! I’ll be glad to do a tutorial!
I am so impressed Tricia!!! That looks awesome! I have triplets who share a room. I wish I had your gift!
Aw, Cathy, thanks! Girl, you can take care of three babies at one time…I wish I had your gift!!!
Very nice!! The room looks so cool. Can you be my Mom for a day and redecorate my room! Pleaseeee!!
Ha! Ha! Sure, but, I think it would take more than one day! I need a vaycay to Florida, anyways!
The Blob!! Too cute! What a precious room! Your boys are very lucky! Love all the map details! Great job!
He seriously thought it was called a blob! He’s a hoot! I’m glad you like the room!

Enjoy!
Awesome! I’ll mention it in the blog post!
I just discovered your blog and couldn’t help but go back to read all the other posts. You have great ideas that don’t break the bank which are what “real” people can relate to. Keep it up girl!!!
Absolutely! That’s my favorite thing to do…find something that is out of my price range and figure out how to make it with my measly budget! It makes it more rewarding in the end. So glad you found me!
This room is SO fun! I love the industrial look, and you’ve done a fantastic job creating that cool vibe!
Susan
I saw the title of your blog and I knew that I MUST check it out. I’m so glad that I did because I love your style! I’m also glad that I saw your Etsy shop b/c I found somethings that I want. I need to hurry up and purchase them before they get gone!
This room is great! We are in the midst of some room makeovers for our boys so I’ve been looking for inspiration. There are aspects from both rooms that our guys love and we are definitely working with a very limited budget. So thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome! Glad I could offer some inspiration! It’s hard to find inspiration for boy’s rooms compared to girl’s rooms. I know, because I’ve been there…twice!
Oh, this turned out so wonderful, Tricia! I love the Ikea metal locker update the best – it really made it look old.
Hi Jami! Thanks for visiting again! I’ll be doing a tutorial how I painted the cabinet soon!
I LOVE the room, Tricia! You did a fantastic job! What you did to the Ikea footlocker is genius! I think that’s my favorite part! Great job!
I think it’s my favorite thing also! A close second to the bookcase. It’s funny that both of these pieces of furniture sat out in our storage building for the past 4 years. I wish I had done it a long time ago!
Beyond great! I love the monograms over their beds, and the bookshelves with globes, pails and blue background. Really lovely!
Thanks, Sally!
Tricia, Hi.
I just ran across your link on the Blog Hop over at ‘Made In a Day’. Im enjoying what I see and I also see that you’re brand new. Anyway, Im now following you. Please come visit me at PICKINandPAINTIN.blogspot.com, and hopefully you’ll follow back?? THANKS, Candy.
Oh.my.word. This is stunning! You did such a fantastic job. Now I have even more ideas for my son’s room….which is moving at a snail’s pace. Maybe I just need you to come over and work on it since you are clearly fantastic at getting stuff completed!

This room looks awesome. I love the orange and blue together.
I love the room, especially the way the colors work together. I love that your son called it the blob. My kids have asked me about my “blob” and their reaction was, “That’s weird, Mom.” (They are 7 and 5.) Very nice work with the room!
Nice job! I love everything you’ve done in the room. I’m currently in the process of changing out my son’s nautical room to orange, blue & brown. So I pinned a lot of your ideas (thanks for sharing your links!)
tricia! it’s sam from simply organized!
i had to come over to see the room reveal and I AM BLOWN AWAY! wow, are you a creative gal!!!! so many awesome little details – i wish i had an ounce of your talent!!!!
love love love all of your cool ideas! love them, seriously. i’m going to follow you!
thanks again for stopping by to leave a comment about your son. all the best to you!

I love it. My younger boy (now 8,5) ehn he was six and starting to learn letters and words at school, asked me for an own ‘block’ where he could share everything he learned.
Love it!! I stumbled across this post and it caught my eye as I have an Ikea PS cabinet that I love everything about except the colour. Imagine my delight when I saw that you placed it between two twin beds, just as I am planning to do when I relocate my twins. Thank you for the visual – it looks great.
In one further freaky-deaky coincidence, I also have a 17 year-old son named Taylor … and it is his room that will soon belong to his younger brothers. LOL!
Thank you
I just love coincidences like that! How cool!
Ok where do I start: love the locker cabinet, love the orange, love the chalkboard paint. Nice job you’ve done there, that room is gorgeous! I’ve got this linked to my children’s room makeover post too today, for fabulous DIY kids spaces!
Thanks for linking it up! I love all the spaces you picked out!
I do not even know how I stumbled upon your blog but..SERIOUSLY!!!! You do such great stuff in a small space. WHO CARES!!! if your home is small (which, I don’t think so, I think it’s perfect) it is so so neat, pretty, adorable and well cared for. Excellent job!!
Love the room!! We just turned our garage into a large bedroom for our two boys and I’m still working on the decorating part b/c it’s so big! Love the colors and we were just in Ikea the other day looking at that same piece for between their beds (they only come in red and white now). Where did you get the large rug that goes between their beds? Thanks!!
Our boys would be ecstatic if they a big bedroom like that! Your boys are so lucky! The rug came from a local carpet shop. It was a remnant rug and they already had the edges bound. It looks like sisal from a distance, but it is easy to clean (unlike sisal). I got a comment from a lady the other day that ended up buying the white ikea cabinet and was able to get the same look. I’m pretty sure she sanded and primed it with gray metal primer before following the rest of the steps. Good luck with your boy’s room!!
I love their room! Especially the locker table…..
I am so impressed with this room. It is perfectly decorated! It’s so difficult to find good boy rooms too! So glad I stumbled upon this today. Thanks a million!
Shan
BTW, where did you get your Haven button? I looked all over their website. I’m looking so forward to going this year. Can’t wait to meet everyone!
I can’t wait for Haven, too! It’ll be here before we know it. I found the button at this link: http://www.havenconference.com/about/
Look forward to meeting you!
Tricia
Thank you, Shan! I agree, ideas for boy’s rooms (like clothes) aren’t as easy to find as it is for girls. I’m so glad you stopped by!
Tricia
Hello there! This post couldn’t be written any better!
Going through this article reminds me of my previous roommate!
He continually kept talking about this. I will
send this article to him. Fairly certain he’s going to have a great read. Thanks for sharing!
